3D animation is a combination of many disciplines, and requires very special people to pull it off. A typical job requires modeling, 3D scene design, texturing, motion design, lighting and a cornucopia of computer skills ranging from programming to hardware.
What we do differently.
We achieve our results by a combination of decentralized talent, and centralized hardware. We learned a long time ago that we cannot keep highly talented animators stimulated enough with our clientele alone. The real keyboard cowboys need a powerful diet of challenging projects and budgets. Allowing them the proper freedom of expression is only possible outside the confinement of a boutique studio. The days of institutionalized creativity are over. Today film style teams are built in relation to project requirements. This allows our clients the unprecedented freedom of scaling not only the budget requirements but the entire philosophical and methodological production requirements for the creation of 3D. For example a client who needs a 3D demonstration for a product informercial has different quality requirements as well and different work pipeline requirements than a director needing photorealistic composite effects for a car on fire during a special effects scene. In the past that would be two different companies, today Eye Candy can deliver in both realms and exceed expectations on both.

Special Effects
It’s no secret that special effects are the key element of modern filmmaking. What is significant for an independent filmmaker is the ability to tap into a resource as rich and as inexpensive as what technology makes available today. 10 years ago, shooting a car on fire required catching the car on fire, today you can catch the car on fire or you can generate a special effect to do it, (for the price of what you would have to pay the city for the firemen). With typical consumer and prosumer software today offering motion tracking and particles, your run-of-the-mill indie film can contain effects worthy of Hollywood attention. Like most of our services’ effects, how and/or when to use them needs to be discussed early on the pre-production of the project. Similar to audio, what you don’t know can cost you, and in no place is that more prevalent than in special effects production.
Typical effects creation require a number of disciplines and hardware. Cost and time will depend greatly on the format of the production and the number of effects to be created and processed. Creating effects for 2K digital intermediates is a totally different ball game than adding fog or fire to a local indie shot on a DLSR. Please contact us with your specific production needs.
